A man has been airlifted to hospital after an accident in the Comeragh Mountains in County Waterford.

A man has been airlifted to hospital after an accident in the Comeragh Mountains in County Waterford.

The man had been camping with a friend when he fell into a ravine early this morning.

A spokesperson for the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association said the man slipped in a ravine while out for a an early morning walk near Mahon Falls.

It is believed he suffered back injuries but was winched to safety by Waterford Coastguard helicopter.
