A baby girl remains in Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin today after receiving severe head injuries believed to be caused by a suspected assault.

Staff at Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin are today caring for a baby girl with serious head injuries.

Newspaper reports today claim she may have been the victim of an assault.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in the West last Monday the 30th of March, when the child was just six weeks old.

She was rushed to University Hospital Galway but later transferred to Temple Street due to the extent of her injuries.

A man in his 20s was arrested, but subsequently released without charge.

A file is now being prepared for the DPP.
