Escaped monkeys spotted by Belfast man walking his dog

Two monkeys have escaped from Belfast Zoo.

The two lion-tailed macaques gave their zookeepers the run around yesterday morning and managed to break free.

They were spotted by a man out walking his dog on the near Antrim Road, near the zoo yesterday afternoon.

Zoo keepers with nets are trying to catch the pair - now called Bonnie and Clyde - but it has not been confirmed that the pair have been caught.

The monkeys are not thought to be dangerous, but people are warned not to try and capture them.

A lion-tailed macaque named Roxy escaped from Belfast Zoo in October, 2013, and was missing for over a week.

Mojo, a black and white Colobus monkey, temporarily left the zoo grounds in 2005 before being spotted by local residents.
