A 35-year-old woman has been killed in a road crash in Co Cork.

A 35-year-old woman has been killed in a road crash in Co Cork.

The collision occurred on the R628, Castlelyons to Conna road at approximately 8:30am when a car and an SUV were in collision.

The woman driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital.

The driver of the SUV, a man in his late 30s, was injured in the collision and he was brought to Cork University Hospital where he is now believed to be in a stable condition.

The road remains closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation and local diversions are in place.
