Man shot dead in Walkinstown

Gardaí are investigating a fatal shooting incident at Harty Avenue in Walkinstown, Dublin 12 tonight.

The incident occurred shortly before 9.30pm. A man in his 60s was shot outside a house on Harty Avenue. The injured man was taken to St James’ Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 10pm.

A short distance away on John McCormack Avenue a burnt out car was found.

The scene of the shooting and the area where the car was discovered were preserved for forensic technical examination.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was in the Crumlin/Walkintown areas between 9pm and 10pm to contact them at Crumlin Garda Station on 01 666 6200.
