A man is in hospital after being stabbed in front of his wife in Dublin last night.

A man is in hospital after being stabbed in front of his wife in Dublin last night.

The incident happened in Glasnevin at around 11pm.

The 61-year-old man was walking home with his wife late last night on Glasnevin Avenue when they were approached by two men.

They demanded he hand over his wallet and brandished a knife, before stabbing the man three times.

The two men then escaped in a car.

The victim was taken to the Mater Hospital where his injuries are described as non-life threatening.

His wife was uninjured, but was treated for shock.
