Former Lufthansa Technik staff to get €2.5m grant to find work
Former workers at Lufthansa Technik Airmotive are to avail of a €2.5m grant from the European Commission.
It comes after the company's plant in Dublin's Rathcoole closed with the loss of 424 jobs early last year.
The money is to go towards helping 250 former employees find new jobs, and is part of the European Globalisation Fund which was set up to support EU workers who lost their jobs due to globalisation and the economic crisis.
Under new rules, the money can also go to help 200 young unemployed Irish people to enter into work or training under the EU's Youth Employment Initiative.
