New busking regulations will produce 'chaos', says Councillor

A Dublin City Councillor has called for an all-out ban on busking with amplifiers.

Mannix Flynn has said that the noise levels are unbearable for residents and workers in the city centre.

"The vast amount of people using amplification now are using it because others are using it, to be heard," he said.

"So one amplifier, you know, leads to another amplifier, leads to another amplifier.

"Then, of course, you have fairly substantial large bands, who are managed on the street using huge amplification.

"So I just simply don't see how we're going to manage it, I don't see how we're going to police it, I don't see how at all it's going to be administrated in the public domain.

"So I just see chaos out there."
