Dublin set for major anti-water charge protest tomorrow

A rally against water charges takes place tomorrow in Dublin city centre.

Protesters plan to march from Connolly and Heuston station up along either side of the quays, with the intention of shutting the city down.

Anti Austerity Alliance TD Paul Murphy has said this is not a national protest and is a very different protest from the one before Christmas.

“This is not a national protest in Dublin - taking place on Saturday, instead there is local and regional protests all across the country,” said Murphy.

“In Cork there is a protest at 2pm at the city library, in Galway - 1pm at Eyre Square and different local protests within Dublin itself. So there is many different protests, this won’t have the same character as the major protest (held in Dublin on December 10).”
