A man has been questioned and released as part of the investigation into a suspected arson attack on Mayo TD Michelle Mulherin's

A fire broke out at Deputy Mulherin's office in Ballina Co Mayo at around 7pm yesterday evening.

Gardaí had been called out to investigate damage to a window and then spotted the blaze, which was quickly brought under control.

A 39-year-old man was arrested in the Ballina area late last night and questioned, before being released from custody early this morning.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
