Man arrested in connection with Westmeath hit-and-run

A man in his 20s has been arrested by gardai investigating a hit and run in Co Westmeath on Tuesday.

A 38-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured and is being treated at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

It happened at 3pm on Tuesday afternoon at Magheraboy Upper, Finea, Co Westmeath.

The man, who was arrested last night, is being detained at Cavan Garda station.

Gardaí have seized a car for technical examination.
