British Army defuses small viable device in Belfast

Police in the North have described the discovery of a suspicious object at an apartment block in east Belfast last night as a small viable device.

British Army bomb experts were sent to the building on Short Strand Road, which was cordoned off, at 7.45pm yesterday evening.

The security alert has now ended.
