Two Government ministers at odds over talk of FF-FG coalition

There are continuing mumblings of Ireland's two largest parties considering a coalition.

Simon Coveney has indicated that he is open to the idea of an Fine Gael-Fianna Fáil coalition.

The Fine Gael TD who is Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine said "There’s a lot of good people in Fianna Fáil. I could work with them".

He has also publicly refused to ruleout the possibility of coalition.

Party colleague Minister Leo Varadkar previously expressed a similar sentiment.

However, a number of Fine Gael backbenchers have already stated they are against the idea.

Today, a senior Labour TD rowed in to the debate,

Kathleen Lynch is a Labour Minister of State. She accused Simon Coveney of being “disloyal”

"I find it a bit disloyal at this stage when you consider that all of the messes that we’ve had to clear up in the last year have been Fine Gael’s doings" Lynch said.

Speaking on Newstalk she continued "we’ve stood by Fine Gael, and it’s a bit disloyal now at a certain level to make that type of remark".
