Motor fuel costs drop 10c a litre

Petrol now costs just under 11 cent a litre less than it did a month ago and diesel prices have dropped by around 10 cent a litre.

The AA's latest fuel price survey shows that as the cost of oil on world markets continues to fall, the cost of motor fuels is also dropping.

The AA's Miriam O'Neill said Irish prices are still high, as two-thirds of what we pay for petrol and diesel is tax.

"Everyone has a little extra money in their pockets this January as a result [of] a significant fall between January and December
but we're still paying an exorbitant amount of tax."
