Bailey court case resumes

Ian Bailey's High Court action against the Garda authorities and the State resumes today after a three week hiatus.

The former journalist is suing for damages for alleged wrongful arrest over the 1996 murder of French film producer Sophie Toscan du Plantier in Co Cork.

The jury will convene later this morning for the first time since the Christmas break.

Back in November they were told the case would be over before the new year but it now looks set to run into February.

Ian Bailey is suing the State and Garda Commissioner for damages over his arrest on two occasions on suspicion of murdering Sophie Toscan du Plantier.

He claims gardaí investigating the French filmmaker's death in Schull over 18 years ago conspired to concoct evidence against him.

His allegations are denied.
