More than 400 patients on trolleys, says INMO
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says the number of people waiting on trolleys at hospitals across the country now stands at 401.
The figure is an increase of 30 since yesterday - but is down 200 on the 601 people awaiting admission on Tuesday, which the INMO said was a record.
It comes after the HSE announced yesterday that Liam Woods will be appointed as the Interim National Director for Acute Hospitals when Dr Tony O'Connell leaves his post at the end of the month.
