Gardaí are investigating a road accident on the Duleek to Drogheda road this morning which claimed the life of a woman.

Gardaí are investigating a road accident on the Duleek to Drogheda road this morning which claimed the life of a woman.

A truck and a car were in collision at around 6am this morning on the R152.

There were four occupants in the car, two men and two women.

One woman was pronounced dead at the scene the other female is in a serious condition.

The two mens' injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

All have been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital.

The male truck driver was uninjured in the collision.

At this stage, gardaí cannot confirm ages of those involved in the collision.

The road remains closed for a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.
