An elderly man is still unaccounted for following a fire at a farmhouse in county Down.

The blaze broke out earlier this morning and at around 7.20am emergency services were alerted to the scene at the farmhouse at Ballynafern Road, Annaclone in Co Down.

An elderly man, believed to be in his 80's, who was the sole occupant of the house is unaccounted for this evening.

Fire crews battled the blaze throughout the day and the fire has been extinguished, but the cause of the fire has not yet been established.
