Waterford gardaí 'don't have the resources' needed, says Councillor
A Waterford Councillor has hit out at the lack of Garda resources in the area following a petrol bomb attack on a house on New Year's Eve.
Assailants smashed windows with two bricks and then attempted to throw a petrol bomb in during the attack on the house on Birchwood Avenue in Waterford City.
The attack took place at around 7:40pm on New Years Eve.
At 5am the assailants returned to the house, in an act that Sinn Féin Councillor John Hearne says was designed to intimidate the family further.
He told Beat 102-103 that the Gardaí have a tough time with limited resources.
"It's hard for them to do their job when they don't have the resources," he said.
"It must be the worst thing in the world to be listening to people crying on the end of a phone, absolutely terrified, and you can't dispatch a car out to help them.
"They know the way it is and they have a very difficult job at times - and it's a political decision that the resources aren't applied."
