Valerie Greaney was attacked last Sunday at the house she shared with her family in O'Neill's Place in Cobh.

Michael Greaney is believed to have stabbed his wife and their 21-year old daughter Michelle before taking his own life.

The media have been asked not to attend the burial of Valerie Greaney today.

Forty-nine-year-old Valerie will be laid to rest in St Colman's cemetery, Cobh and will share her final resting place with her husband Michael.

The couple's eldest daughter is recovering in hospital and is hoping to attend the funerals of both of her parents, along with her younger sister Sarah.

The first funeral Mass for Valerie will be open to the public and takes place this morning at 11am at St Colman's Cathedral.

Michael's will take place tomorrow, but that will be strictly private.
