The Rotunda Hospital in Dublin welcomed the first baby of 2015 last night.

A little boy, Kian Anthony Burke, was born to Jennifer Burke from Artane in Dublin at four seconds past midnight, weighing 7 lb 5 oz.

He is a baby brother to seven-year-old Gemma.

Meanwhile, the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street, Dublin, welcomed new arrival Ellie, born to Sinead Dormer and her husband at 17 seconds past midnight.

Cork University Maternity Hospital welcomed three babies into the world - all girls - between 1am and 3am.

A baby girl was also born at Wexford General Hospital at 6.29am this morning.
