A man remains in Garda custody in Co Cavan this morning in connection with the stabbing of a woman on Christmas Eve.

The man who is in his late 50s was arrested on Wednesday after a woman in her 40s was found with serious stab wounds to her upper body at a house in Kilnaleck.
