Man held in Cavan stabbing case being treated in hospital

A man being held in connection with the stabbing of a woman in Co Cavan is receiving medical treatment in hospital.

The man in his 50s was arrested after Gardaí were called to a house in Kilnaleck on the afternoon of Christmas Eve.

The woman who was attacked suffered serious wounds to her upper body.

She is in Cavan General Hospital, where she is believed to be in a serious but stable condition.
