Pedestrian, 73, dies in Mayo collision

A pensioner has died after he was hit by a car in Co Mayo last night.

The 73-year-old pedestrian was struck at Kilkeeran in Kilmaine at around 8pm.

The driver of the car, a woman in her late 20s, was not injured. A post mortem is to be arranged on the dead man at Castlebar Hospital.

The road is currently closed for a forensic examination.
