Monaghan man in court accused of stealing cattle

A Co Monaghan man has appeared in court in connection with an investigation into the theft of cattle in border counties.

William Cranston (aged 41) of Skerrymore in Castleblayney is charged with handling stolen property at Traditional Meat Company, Gortloney, Dromone, Oldcastle, Co Meath on September 19 last.

Navan District Court heard it is a protracted investigation and there may be further similar charges.

Judge Grainne Malone adjourned the case until February 13.
