Five due in court after garda cars rammed in Cork

Five people are due in court in Co Cork this morning, charged in connection with violent disorder, during which Gardaí came under attack.

Two garda patrol cars were rammed in the incidents between Killeagh and Dungourney early yesterday morning.

A garda sergeant received a serious facial injury when he was hit on the head with a rock, and another colleague suffered cuts.

Four men and a woman were arrested and are due before Mallow District Court this morning.

A number of weapons, a car and cash were seized.
