Quinn family accused of hiding electronic documents among family photos
Members of Sean Quinn's family have been accused of hiding highly relevant electronic documents amongst their family photos.
A High Court judge says the Quinns are doing the legal equivalent of a 'work to rule' when it comes to handing over material as part of their battle with IBRC.
IBRC has accused the Quinns of asset stripping their former international property business.
Before the case goes to trial, the family of the one-time billionaire are required to hand over all documents relating to their assets, financial and tax affairs.
However, Declan Taite, a receiver appointed on behalf of the bank, has the power to inspect around 100,000 documents on the Quinns' personal devices which they classed as non-relevant to the case.
The court heard he has viewed only a fraction of the documents but instead of just family photos, he was alarmed to find highly relevant emails about share transfers and salaries.
His powers of inspection have today been increased by Mr Justice Brian McGovern who said it is in the public interest that the litigation does not proceed at a snail's pace.
