Fisherman's body recovered from water off Cork

A man has died following a suspected accident in West Cork this afternoon.

The body of the man was discovered between two trawlers on Dinish Pier in Castletownbere just after 2pm today.

Castletownbere coastguard and the rescue 115 helicopter out of Shannon attended the scene and assisted in bringing the man to the pier.

A local doctor and a HSE ambulance arrived on scene at 2.40pm and the victim - believed to be a fisherman - was pronounced dead at 2.45pm.

Investigations are continuing.
