US water charge protesters to join protest on Wednesday
American campaigners are joining anti-water charge protesters in Dublin for a major demonstration outside the Dáil this week.
Members of the Detroit Water Brigade will join Right2Water campaigners on the streets on Wednesday.
In the US, the group is known for helping those families who are at risk of having their water shut off.
Justin Wedes, from Detroit Water Brigade, said: "You just can't rely upon what they say. The same thing happened in Michigan, we were told that they would follow their rules, go by the protocols, shut-offs would be done only in extreme situations, they would make arrangements and considerations for low-income people.
"We have seen left and right all these strewn on the ground in this path, and we say 'don’t follow this path, turn around now while you can Dublin'."
