Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary at a Dublin warehouse, during which thousands of cases of whiskey were stolen.
The incident happened in the Parkwest industrial Estate, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10 on November 14 between 3pm and 4pm.
Two employees were working at warehouse when a pair of men entered the building armed with iron bars.
After forcing the employees to open the loading bay, at least three more men arrived and the employees were tied up.
The raiders used two 40 foot trucks to steal a substantial amount of alcohol.
The stolen alcohol consists of some 2,580 cases of Jameson Whiskey, each case being made up of six 700ml bottles. Each of the cases stolen has one of these three Batch numbers; L428112153, L428312172, L428016141, with each bottle having a corresponding batch number on the rear of the label.
Cases of Bombay Sapphire gin and Jack Daniels whiskey, both containing 700ml bottles, were also stolen. No batch numbers are available for either.
Gardaí believe that this stolen alcohol will be offered for sale in the run up to Christmas.
The trucks left Parkwest between 4-4.30pm, travelled along Killeen Road up to the junction of Nangor Road where they went left towards the Long Mile Road, turned right on to the Naas Road and headed in the direction of the Red Cow roundabout.
It is not known whether the trucks travelled onto the M50 or continued out the N7 towards Naas.
The description of the trucks is as follows:
1. Red Cab with a bank of spotlights along the top of the cab, - with a white solid 40’tri-axle container.
2. A white Cab – with a 40’tri – axle trailer which had a blue curtain.
There was no distinctive markings on either of the trailers.
