LRC in talks with HSE to prevent strike at Drogheda hospital

The Labour Relations Commission are intervening to try and prevent strike action at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, from going ahead.

Members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation are due to hold a lunchtime protest on Wednesday to highlight the issue of overcrowding at the hospital.

They will meet with representatives from the HSE at the LRC later this morning in an effort to avert the action.

In October, there were 631 patients awaiting an in-patient bed at the hospital, that is compared to 184 in October 2013.

INMO Industrial Relations Officer Tony Fitzpatrick is calling on the Health Minister to act.
