Commuters are being advised of major disruption to rail services in and out of Heuston Station in Dublin this morning due to a fatality on the line between Newbridge and Sallins overnight.

Commuters are being advised of major disruption to rail services in and out of Heuston Station in Dublin this morning due to a fatality on the line between Newbridge and Sallins overnight.

Irish Rail says the line is not expected to reopen until after the morning peak.

8.40am update: Services have now resumed to and from Dublin's Heuston Station - there will be knock-on delays or up to half an hour.

Commuter services will operate between Sallins and Heuston only and there will be no commuter services between Portlaoise and Sallins.

Intercity services from Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway & Westport will terminate at Kildare with road transfers to and from Heuston.

All other Waterford services will terminate at Athy with a bus transfer to and from Heuston.
