Man dies in overnight road accident in Co Roscommon

A man died in an overnight road accident in Co Roscommon, it has emerged.

The deceased, the driver and sole occupant of a jeep, died after his vehicle and a car were in collision at Coolteige Cross, Roscommon at around 1.20am this morning.

The jeep then crashed into a concrete fence.

The male driver of the car (aged 23) and his female passenger (aged 32) were uninjured.

The deceased man was removed to Roscommon County Hospital.

The road was closed to facilitate a Garda forensic examination, but has now reopened.
