Gardaí are investigating a stabbing in Sligo town this afternoon during which it is understood one young man had a finger severed.

Gardaí are investigating a stabbing in Sligo town this afternoon during which it is understood one young man had a finger severed.

It is understood four young men were involved in the incident outside Johnston's Court Arcade on O'Connell Street at around 3.30pm.

Two of them - a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old - were stabbed, with one of them sustaining a serious finger injury.

Gardaí are investigating the incident.
