Nurse hit mother in face with bottle 'because she was trying to break up marriage'

A nurse accused of murdering her mother on Christmas Eve 2010 has admitted hitting her with a glass bottle because she feared she would ruin her life.

Greta Dudko of Station Court Hall, Clonsilla in Dublin told Gardaí she felt her mother was trying to break up her marriage.

Greta Dudko kept her eyes shut as the jury watched video footage of her being interviewed by Gardaí late on Christmas Day 2010.

Wrapped in a blue blanket at Blanchardstown Garda Station, she told Detective Garda Patrick Traynor what happened the night before.

She said she was drinking vodka while watching TV in bed when her mother came home and they rowed over her son who was staying with his father.

She claims she was knocked out when her mother hit her on the side of her face with something hard.

The 36-year-old said she reacted by pushing her hard against a wall.

Her mother lost consciousness and she said she put her to bed, then fetched an empty liqueur bottle and hit her twice in the face with it.

She said she was sick of her trying to break up her marriage by claiming her husband was having an affair.

Anna Butautiene's body was found on Christmas Day, and her daughter admits killing her but says she did not mean to and denies her murder.
