GSOC has launched an investigation in Co Clare after three men were seriously injured after being hit by a car that was being pursued by Gardaí.

GSOC has launched an investigation in Co Clare after three men were seriously injured after being hit by a car that was being pursued by Gardaí.

It happened in the village of Parteen at about 5pm yesterday evening.

The vehicle pursued by Gardaí struck a parked car, injuring three pedestrians aged in their 70s - who were transferred to hospital.

One pensioner has had his leg amputated after the incident.

The two men who were being chased fled the scene and gardaí carried out a search of the area.

One man was later arrested and he is being questioned at Mayorstone Park Garda station.

The Garda Ombudsman is calling for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
