Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Dublin city centre which has left a 33-year-old man in critical condition in hospital.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Dublin city centre which has left a 33-year-old man in critical condition in hospital.

The assault took place at around 9.30pm yesterday on Aston Quay, Dublin 2.

The injured man was taken to Saint James’ Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Gardaí said they are looking for a manin his 20s or 30s, described as being well-built with dark hair. He was wearing a light coloured t-shirt, grey hoody top with white writing on the front and grey tracksuit bottoms. Prior to the attack the suspect removed his hoody and t-shirt and put them back on following the incident.

The suspect left the area in the direction of Westmoreland Street in the company of two other males who were wearing dark tracksuits.
