Woman's remains to be exhumed in 20-year-old investigation

A woman's remains are to be exhumed in Limerick today as part of an effort to determine how she died 20 years ago.

42-year-old Margaret Seery from Limerick was found dead at her flat in Rathmines, Dublin, in 1994. At the time, an inquest determined that she had choked and her death was not treated as suspicious.

However, it is understood that gardaí received new information this summer that the woman died violently.

Officers are taking the fresh claims seriously and her remains will be removed from the grave this morning.

Ms Seery's remains will be removed from a graveyard this morning and transferred to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem examination.
