Women's sport needs to capitalise from the emergence of "role models" in the Irish Women's Rugby team, according to attendees at the Women in Sport conference at Croke Park this morning.

The success of the Irish Women's Rugby team at the World Cup this summer brought the sport's exposure to new levels.

"It's fantastic what they're after achieving given the funding that they have, said Mags D'Arcy, a Wexford camogie All Star, who hopes the added coverage can inspire more girls to take up sport.

"Success breeds exposure - we've found that ourselves down in Wexford, winning our first All0-Irland in 2007.

"Young girls back home in Wexford had role models to look at - people, now in Ireland, have role models. .. We need to capitalise on that exposure and bring it to the forefront of people's minds."
