Couple took winning Lotto ticket to 'pick-pocketing capital of the world'
A Dublin couple, unaware that they had won €250,000 in the Lotto, brought their winning ticket on their Spanish holiday for three weeks, it emerged today.
The lucky winners checked the ticket when they got home yesterday and discovered they had won the top prize in the Lotto Plus 2 draw for Saturday, August 16.
They collected their cheque at National Lottery offices today.
“That ticket survived Barcelona, the pick-pocketing capital of the world,” said the Dublin man.
“I buy a Lotto ticket every now and then, so I’d almost forgotten about it. I couldn’t believe it when I checked yesterday and for the Lottery to confirm it when I called.
“We plan to enjoy it, that’s for sure. We’ll do some travelling – maybe New York to start. I’ve family in America, so it will be good to have the excuse to visit them!”
The lucky €4 Quick Pick ticket was bought in Centra, Annesley Bridge Road, Fairview Corner, D3.
The winners have decided to keep their identity private.
This Saturday’s Lotto jackpot is an estimated €4.5m.
