Iman calls for Irish Muslims to report jihadist elements to Gardaí
The Imam at the country's largest Mosque is calling on Irish Muslims to report any jihadist elements that may be operating here.
Doctor Ali Al Saleh, who is Imam at the Miltown Cultural Centre in Dublin, said it was his duty to speak out against Islamic State (IS) sympathisers.
Last night, US President Barack Obama announced that he has authorised air strikes in Syria and Iraq as part of a campaign against the Islamic State militant group.
Dr Ali Al Saleh said Irish Muslims should cooperate with the Gardaí in tackling ISIS here.
"We did not tackle it from the beginning," he said. "It is the duty of us and of the Iman to speak openly against these things. I ask the Muslims here to cooperate with the Gardaí and to notify them of any activities like this."
