A new drive to test a vaccine for the Ebola virus will be led by an Irish scientist.

Professor Adrian Hill is director of the Jenner Institute at Oxford University in the UK.

It is working with the US National Institutes of Health, Glaxosmithkline and the WHO on the trials.

Professor Hill, who is originally from Dublin, has said that he is cautiously optimistic the vaccine will be effective.
