Cork gardaí appeal for witnesses after serious city assault

Gardaí in Cork are appealing for witnesses to an assault in the city centre over the weekend which has left a 30-year-old man fighting for his life.

The man was critically injured when he was assaulted at the Grand Parade end of Oliver Plunkett Street at around 2.30am on Sunday morning.

It is understood he was involved in a fracas outside a nightclub near the pub before falling to the ground, striking his head off the surface.

Gardaí have begun checking CCTV footage from the area and they are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station.
