Allsop to auction 55-acre island off Mayo coast

An island off the coast of Mayo could be yours for €100,000.

Allsop Space's largest public auction will see Dunvillaun Beg Island, just two kilometres off the Coast of Mayo, go under the hammer at the RDS on September 16.

The 55-acre site - which is part of a cluster of islands south of Inishkea - has been deserted since its last occupants moved to the mainland in the late 19th century.

There is no slip or pier which means the only way to access Dunvillaun is by helicopter.
