A 75-year-old woman has died in hospital after she was struck by a marked garda patrol car in Dublin.

A 75-year-old woman has died in hospital after she was struck by a marked garda patrol car in Dublin.

The collision happened shorty before 11.30am today on the Fonthill Road in Clondalkin.

The 75-year-old pedestrian - who was seriously injured in the collision - was rushed by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital.

She died this afternoon from her injuries.

Because a garda car was involved, the incident was referred to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission, which has launched an investigation into the incident. Anyone who witnessed it is being asked to come forward.
