Man remanded in custody after being charged with stealing ATM

A man has been charged with stealing an ATM from a bank in Sligo.

Bernard Quigley, aged 42, with an address at Branchfield, Drumfin, Co Sligo appeared at a special court sitting in Carrick-on-Shannon charged with two offences.

He is accused of damaging the front wall and cash till at the Bank of Ireland on Teeling Street in Tubbercurry on January 29.

He is also charged with stealing the ATM which contained €124,300 in cash.

Mr Quigley was refused bail on a number of grounds, including Supt Kevin English's belief that he is living permanently in Lisnaskea, Co Fermanagh and would leave the Republic of Ireland.

He has been remanded in custody to appear again at Harristown court on Friday.
