Young man critical after swimming accident in Wexford

A man is in a critical condition at Waterford University Hospital after he got into difficulty while swimming in Co Wexford this evening.

The incident happened at Duncannon beach between 7pm and 7.50pm.

The alarm was raised and emergency services including the coastguard unit from Fethard attended the scene.

The man was taken by ambulance to Waterford University hospital where his condition is described as critical.
