A five-year-old boy and a teenager have died in two separate drownings in Dublin and Cavan.

A five-year-old boy and a teenager have died in two separate drownings in Dublin and Cavan.

The first incident happened at an artificial lake near the Belgree Lawns area of Tyrellstown in Dublin at around 9.30am yesterday morning.

It is understood he had wandered away from his home

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old teenager died after he got into difficulty while swimming in a lake in County Cavan.

The incident happened at Killykeen Forest Park yesterday afternoon.

He was taken from the water to Cavan General Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
