Alan Shatter to appeal ruling over Wallace comments

Alan Shatter is to appeal a ruling that he broke the law in comments he made about another TD, according to a report this morning.

The Irish Independent reports the former Justice Minister's case is due for mention at the Circuit Court tomorrow.

The Data Protection Commissioner found Mr Shatter broke the law when he disclosed personal information about Deputy Mick Wallace during an edition of 'Prime Time' on RTÉ television in May of last year.

The Dublin South TD later apologised in the Dáil.

It is understood that Shatter is taking the action alone and the Government will have no involvement in the matter.
