Govt Senators to try to remove FF Senator from banking inquiry
The Seanad has decided to give the Opposition a majority of the seats on the new Oireachtas banking inquiry.
It has decided to give its two seats on the inquiry to one Fianna Fáil and one Independent senator - despite the Government's wishes for one to go to Labour.
That means there would only be four Government representatives out of nine on the committee.
However, Government senators will try to overturn the decision later this morning and put Labour senators Susan O'Keeffe onto the inquiry instead of Fianna Fáil's Marc MacSharry.
